FAQ

  • What is permanent makeup?
Permanent Makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing also known as Micropigmentation or semi permanent makeup and is done by softly implanting pigments into the upper layers of the skin to create shape, colour and definition. The treatment is completely safe and used for a variety of cosmetic enhancements such as eyebrows, eyeliner or lips. Its becoming the most wanted treatment for women of all ages as the benefits are huge!
  • Is permanent makeup safe?
Yes, The products i use during all my treatments are 100% safe and the best medical grade pigments designed for implanting into the skin, all needles are sterile packed and i strictly follow protocols for health & safety and blood born pathogens.
  • Does it matter what gender i am?
No! absolutely not! PMU is for everyone and it is tailored to each specific person.
  • How long will my permanent makeup last for?
PMU can last 1-5 years depending on each persons skin, lifestyle and aftercare, however we always recommend a colour boost top up approx every 12-24 months to ensure the shape is still correct and any pigment changes can be corrected.
  • Is permanent makeup painful to have done?
This is a hard one to answer because everyones pain threshold is different. But generally no! I make you feel as comfortable as possibly and the use of numbing creams is applied before and throughout.
  • Can i choose my own colour and style?
100%! I will always advise on colour choice and style as a professional but ultimately it is your treatment and you are in control the whole time and i will never start the procedure without your agreement that your 100% happy with the pre draw, mapping and colour choice.
  • Whats the difference between semi permanent makeup and permanent makeup?
Nothing. They refer to the same treatment! Any pmu treatment whether using a digital machine or microblade they are all "Permanent" treatments and are all TATTOO techniques and are all implated into the upper dermis of the skin. Years ago it was always known as semi permanent because of a different understanding of the techniques and products used, now we have a better understanding and we now know that these are all permanent treatments as even though they will fade significanty over time the pigment molecules will always stay in the skin and can remain indefinatly and is never guaranteed to fade off 100%.
  • What happens after the treatment?
Once you've had your first procedure done you can feel a little swollen and tender which is completely normal. I will go though your aftercare guidelines and you will then be given an aftercare pack/leaflet to take home with you. Please do follow your aftercare guidelines carefully, they are so important and are to ensure you heal perfectly and get the best results from your PMU. I will book your colour boost top up for 6-8 weeks later before you leave to ensure you have a booking. Over the next few weeks or more particularly over the next week you will go through different stages of healing and it can be scary and disappointing but please trust the process, it will be worth it!
  • Choosing your PMU artist...
It is a daunting process and a trustworthy one too! once you have thought you would like the PMU procedure done id recommend you do your research and have a look at the PMU artists portfolio of work and ensure they are licensed and insured. I am very particular about following the regulations for the safety of my clients therefore rest assured all licensed are obtained and insurance is valid and of course id happily show you the certificates. You will also notice that the room will be wrapped and protected throughout to protect you and myself from any blood contamination so rest assured i have done everything i can to keep you and myself safe. If at any point you are unsure if i am the right therapist for you or if my style is for you then you are more than welcome to book a FREE consultation with me to meet me, discuss the treatment, your requirements and expectations and if i feel i am not the right therapist for you or your requirement is not my style then i will happily point you in the direction of a PMU artist that is.
  • Will you go over previous PMU by another technician?
Sometimes. It really depends on the work thats all ready there and how saturated the area is. If the area already is quite dark and has alot of pigment left then i will not be able too as the skin is already saturated with pigment so going over the area again won’t hold and will be a waste of your money. In this case I would recommend undergoing a removal or lightening procedure such as LIFT saline tattoo removal/lightening to lighten the brows enough to be able to colour correct and top up the old permanent makeup. This can be done at a discounted rate when booking your top up after with myself. This isn't a bad thing, in fact its completely normal to have to have a form of removal done at some point as over time our faces change and our skin tone may change so we may want to adjust our PMU over the years.
  • How long does the treatment take?
Generally i allow 3 hours for most new pmu treatments. This allows time for numbing and pre drawing the area for the perfect template. No tattooing happens until you are absolutly happy with the predraw.
  • Do I need to get my brows plucked, waxed, tinted or threaded prior to my appointment?
You can by all means get your brows tidied up if you wish but this can be done no later than 1 week prior to your appointment, if during the pre draw I need to remove any hairs outside of our mapping I will do this during the procedure. With tinting if you normally tint your brows regularly you can get them tinted again no later than 1 week beforehand so I can see how dark/light you like your brows and after your procedure you can tint your natural hairs once the area has fully healed. Ideally is it adviseable to have the area as natural as possible.
  • Do I need to be careful in the sun?
Yes!! for 4 weeks before and after each pmu session especially to avoid skin damage and any risk of scarring. Any tume after the healing process yes too as UV rays can cause premature fading and sun damage can cause discolouration/fading. I would always advise you use a SPF 30 sun cream on your brows and a lip balm with a SPF 30 on your lips once the area has completely healed.
